Nacka, Södermalm and southern suburbs

The extension of the Metro to Nacka, Södermalm and southern suburbs covers a distance of 11 kilometres and will be constructed entirely below ground.

This part of the Metro extension consists of three projects:

Nacka
includes the Sickla - Järla - Nacka extension.

Södermalm
includes the Kungsträdgården - Sofia - Hammarby kanal extension.

Southern suburbs
includes the Gullmarsplan - Slakthusområdet - Sockenplan extension.

Kungsträdgården
The extension of the Metro begins at Kungsträdgården, where the tunnel is already prepared for a future extension. From there a new tunnel will be constructed through the rock below water level, the first station being at Sofia on Södermalm. South of Sofia station, the tunnel spits in two directions.

Sofia - Sockenplan
The second section runs from Sofia Station to Gullmarsplan, where a new platform is being built below the existing one. The Metro then continues southwards with a new station in the Slakthusområdet district that will replace the present stations at Globen and Enskede gård. Another station to the south, at Sockenplan, connects the new tunnel with the existing Hagsätra branch line, incorporating it into the Blue Line.
