Background<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The trains in the metro need to be washed, cleaned, and repaired so that all of us who travel by metro can ride in well-maintained and clean carriages. However, the current depot capacity is insufficient as Stockholm’s metro network grows. Therefore, we are expanding the metro depot in H\u00f6gdalen, an important part of the new extended metro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Increased capacity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The H\u00f6gdalen depot is being expanded with new buildings and increased capacity. We are building new stabling areas for the trains, a new train wash, and a new graffiti removal facility. In the future, the expanded depot will be able to accommodate approximately twice as many trains as it does today.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

A new 2.5 kilometer tunnel <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We are building a new tunnel between the H\u00f6gdalen depot and H\u00f6kar\u00e4ngen so that the depot can accommodate trains from both the Green Line’s Farsta branch and Hags\u00e4tra branch, which will become part of the Blue Line in the future. Next to the tunnel, we are constructing additional underground stabling areas. The blasting of the tunnel is expected to be completed by early 2025.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
