About the project
The Blue Line is being extended from Kungsträdgården and will split into two branches. Two new stations will be built on Södermalm: Sofia, with an entrance in Stigbergsparken, and Hammarby Kanal, which will have exits at both Norra Hammarbyhamnen and Luma in Hammarby Sjöstad.
One branch will head south via Gullmarsplan and continue to Sockenplan, where it will connect with the Hagsätra branch and become part of the Blue Line. The other branch will extend eastward to Nacka, where three new stations will be built: Sickla, Järla, and Nacka.
The new extension will ease congestion on the existing metro system, which currently passes through T-Centralen and Gullmarsplan, allowing for more frequent service on the Farsta and Skarpnäck branches. The Blue Line extension to Nacka and Söderort is scheduled to open in 2030.
New stations

Gullmarsplan
At Gullmarsplan, a new platform for the Blue Line will be built underneath the Green Line. In Mårtensdal, a new entrance will be constructed. There will be convenient transfers between buses, the light rail, and the Green Line. From Gullmarsplan, the journey to T-Centralen will take 6 minutes.

Hammarby kanal
The station will be built on the Blue Line under Hammarby Canal, with an entrance at Katarina Bangata on Södermalm and another entrance at the light rail station in Luma, Hammarby Sjöstad.

Järla
Järla will be built in close proximity to the Saltsjöbanan, bus connections, and many new homes. From here, future travelers will reach T-Centralen in 10 minutes.

Nacka
The metro’s final station, Nacka, will be built between Jarlaberg and Nacka Forum – close to housing, shopping, schools, and workplaces. From Nacka station, future travelers will reach T-Centralen in 12 minutes.

Sickla
From the new metro station, future travelers will reach T-Centralen in 8 minutes via the Blue Line. Sickla will become an important hub for transfers between the metro, buses, Saltsjöbanan, and the light rail.

Slakthusområdet
In the heart of the new district, a new station on the Blue Line is being built with two entrances. It will be close to dining, culture, and the large arenas. From Slakthusområdet, the journey to T-Centralen will take 8 minutes.

Sofia
Sofia Station, on the Blue Line, will have an entrance building at Stigbergsparken. Passengers will use eight fast elevators to travel to and from the platform, which will be located approximately 100 meters below ground level.
